Thanks again to Talis for second prize in the Library Mashup competition! Several Second Lifers were on hand at the Internet Librarian conference this week in Monterey California to receive the award. Prize money was used to purchase several new buildings and furniture for them.

On Sunday, October 29 at 8 am sl there will be an Info Island orientation and tour for anyone interested. Sunday night we will have a staff meeting in the main meeting room of the library. Anyone is welcome even if you are not sure you want to participate.

This Monday night, October 30, at 6 pm sl, there will be a presentation at Info Island by Lex Lardner (aka Fred parnon, ECO of Jnana Technologies). Lex will show how the Jnana software platform can be used by non-technical people to build and deploy a wide variety of interactive library and information systems in Second Life. Some of our librarians on Info Island are already using Jnana to do this and we will take a look at one or two of the systems they have already created and deployed.
