Over 60 attend ALA Washington’s office Second Life Program by R. David Lankes

The ALA Washington Office hosted their first event last night in Second Life. VirtualDave Legend (AKA David Lankes) from Syracuse University presented his paper entitled “Participatory Networks: Libraries as Conversations”.

Over 60 librarians, some of the new to Second Life, attended the presentation and the overall reception was awesome!

Special thanks to all those who made this happen, including VirtualDave, Lorelei and Abbey.

VirtualDave recorded a video of the presentation, which he has made available here: http://quartz.syr.edu/rdlankes/presentations/2007/Lankes-SL.mp4

Also, a transcript of the proceedings can be found on the ALA Washington Office’s District Dispatch blog at: http://blogs.ala.org/districtdispatch.php?title=ala_wo_lecture_in_second_life

The ALA Washington Office is thrilled to be able to communicate with members and librarians in this new medium and we look forward to the possibility of future programs.
