MARCH 9, 6:30 PM SLT
The Caledon branch library and the Clan of Seafarers and Storytellers co-sponsors an evening of story-telling at The Falling Anvil Public House in Caledon Tammrannoch. The theme for this session is Tales of Love…we encourage all fabulists, storytellers, griots, bards, spinners of yarns, and accomplished liars to come and share tales of love, whether touching or tragic, whether of love that overcomes mighty obstacles, of love gone wrong, or of love gone off to the kitchen to eat cold pizza and read the funnr papers. Likewise, all folk who enjoy story-telling are invited to come share the good times. New Interest Group
Several of us employed in federal departments and agencies have mused about the particular legal and regulatory challenges under which federal workers/institutions might be required to work while in Second Life. We have no idea, however, how many federal representatives there are in SL.
If you work for a federal institution (in any country) and are working **officially** on behalf of that institution within Second Life, we would be interested in hearing from you. We have considered raising a group, if numbers and interest warrant, to list/discuss the questions we must deal with as federal agents acting within a virtual environment. We know that the laws and regulations that govern our activities vary amongst jurisdictions worldwide; but many of our concerns will be similar.
Please get in touch with Dinnie at blacknus at gmail.com to indicate your interest in coming together with other federal employees to discuss some of the particular constraints we work with and solutions we might consider. Also, please let me know your time zone and whether you can meet in-world mornings, afternoons or evenings … and on weekdays or weekends … so we can try to find some mutually-acceptable meeting time.

BLAST
BLAST (Balloon-borne Large-Aperture Sub-millimeter Telescope) is a scientific ballooning project dedicated to understanding the origins of the universe. Last December, BLAST flew from a Long Duration Balloon over Antarctica. By providing the first sensitive large-area submillimeter surveys at these wavelengths, BLAST will address some of the most important cosmological and Galactic questions regarding the formation and evolution of stars, galaxies and clusters.
Virtual BLAST will be flying over the SL grid on Saturday, March 3 and will fly over Information Island 9am - 10am.
One of the BLAST scientists will give a talk on the project at the International Spaceflight Museum on March 4 at 11am SLT.
