Mystery Manor Book Discussion: Knots and Crosses

Last month’s discussion moved 40 years ahead and to the midwest with our discussion of Sara Paretsky’s first book. This month we leave the U.S. and go across the pond to Edinburgh, Scotland with our discussion of Ian Rankin’s first Detective Inspector Rebus novel, Knots and Crosses. Maxito Roberto will lead the discussion on Wednesday, July 25 at 6:00pm SL, in Mystery Manor.

Rankin is one to the top selling authors in the U.K. According to Wikipedia, he fits into a sub-genre of crime fiction called Tartan Noir, crime fiction that takes place in Scotland or by Scottish authors. His hard-boiled detective police procedurals are known for their elaborate and complicated plots. Rebus is an interesting character who seems to teeter on the edge of personal and professional ruin.
