2007 Technology Award

East Peoria, IL — The Alliance Library System’s Technology Award recognizes innovative approaches to the planning and implementation of a programs or services using technology, including web design and application.

In 2007, the Technology Award is presented to Second Life “Superwoman” Rhonda Trueman or Abbey Zenith as she is better known virtually. Rhonda has been involved in Second Life since it started in April, 2006. She currently serves as Assistant Director/Operations Manager for the Alliance Information Archipelago and its 50 libraries and over 600 volunteers. By day, Rhonda is a reference librarian at the Johnson Wales University in North Carolina, and by night she is a leader in the virtual world of Second Life. Rhonda is creative, courageous and very well respected by all who work with her. Abbey Zenith, (Rhonda’s avatar), with her outgoing personality and positive leadership style, is a true reflection of the success that is Alliance and the Information Archipelago.

The ALS Awards Committee would like to thank Pearl Technology for their ongoing support of the Technology Award. This is their fourth year of offering $1,000 to support the award. Thank you also to the nominators, Susan Rushing and Lori Bell.
