To celebrate our graduates of library science programs, the librarians of Second Life are hosting a live Juel Resistance Concert, Saturday, May 31st at 6:00 p.m. SLT at Gatsby’s on Rich Idiot (SLurl is http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rich%20Idiot/103/111/35)! After the concert, American Library Association President, Loriene Roy (aka Mukwa Dibou) will speak to wish the graduates good luck in their new profession!

GRAND OPENING OF INVESTING INFOISLAND ON JUNE 1

Alliance Library System will launch the “Smart investing @ your library®” program, to promote investor education in the virtual world of Second Life on Sunday June 1 from 3:00-5:00 pm SLT on Investing InfoIsland. Alliance Library System will kick off programs on investing targeted at baby boomers. The opening event will feature a brief presentation by Margaret Monsour of the American Library Association and Susan Sarver of FINRA followed by a sock hop. Everyone is invited. STEPPING INTO HISTORY CONFERENCE ON JUNE 24

What if instead of talking about history, we could experience it? What if, instead of looking at photos or drawings of historical sites, we could walk into and through them? What if, instead of reading the words of a Lincoln or a Ghandi, we could hear them speak?The technology of virtual worlds is opening up a new universe of possibilities in promoting and teaching a love of history. The “Stepping into History” conference is your chance to learn about, and experience for yourself, the power of virtual worlds at the service of history.
