Libraries in Second Life this week
Summer Picnic Fun!
You are invited to a picnic, a hunt, and a party or two during the month of August at Alliance Virtual Library. Scattered about the sims Info Island, Info Island International and Imagination are picnic areas loaded with goodies to enjoy and hidden gifts. Each area holds a landmark to one of our library areas where you can learn about a variety of topics and find even more goodies!
Picnic areas are open now to explore and enjoy. You’ll find romantic spots, places of imagination, helpful info. games like volleyball, catch, and kenpo, and just plain fun by visiting Alliance Virtual Library during Summer Picnic Fun!
On August 15th at 2 PM SLT you are invited to enjoy a summer
fun party. Wear your cut-offs and flip flops and come to dance! We’ll
have fireworks, food, and fun! Then on August 30th at 2 PM SLT we’ll close Summer Picnic Fun with a special party (details to be announced).

Rainbow Gardens Summer Party
Please join us at Rainbow Gardens Pet Memorial on August 14, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm SLT.
We will celebrate our new exhibit, Summer Pet Care Tips, by having a beach party and dancing.
Anyone will also have the opportunity to share a poem about their RL or SL pets.
Please come dressed in your favorite swimsuit or beach wear.

Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass is one of the works at the foundations of American poetry. Its expansive attempt to capture the spirit and landscape of the 19th century United States has influenced an entire culture’s self-concept, and its rich language continues to inspire readers today as it has for the century and a half of its existence.
“By Whitman, Biweekly” will provide an opportunity to look closely at this beloved work. Each time we’ll spend an hour discussing its context and examining the poetry of the 1855 first edition. The series will also give those who love Leaves of Grass, and those who would like to learn more, an opportunity to explore Whitman’s vigorous and heartfelt poetry together.
