Libraries in Second Life This Week!

Upcoming Events at Renaissance Island

Stop by and see how our Manor is coming along! Princej3rd Figaro, our Master Builder, is raising a new manor in celebration of the history of one Baddesley Hall, which sheltered Catholic priests, who were under the threat of a death sentence if discovered, and made special provision to hide and protect them. Several priest holes were built, secret passages to hide people in the event of a search. Altho many similarities will be seen, we are modeling our Lagswell Manor according to consensus of what our tenants and visitors have expressed by votes. The rooms will host a great hall, kitchen, music room, small chapel, and library, along with guest rooms and other surprises filing of a great Manor. We will eventually hold a grand opening celebration but til then you can see progress on our website http://sites.google.com/site/renaissanceislandsl/

Saturday, Nov 7th at 1pm SL En Garde Tourney

Kat Burger and Diamond Coronet will host the Village’s tourney. Entry fee to join and challenge many experienced Fencers. Prizes and always fun entertainment when attending this event whether you are a spectator or challenger. Tourney will start at the Jousting Arena.

Nov 14th at 11am SL Dedication of Dinnie Devonshire Lane

We will be gathering to dedicate one of our lanes after a very special tenant, who gave much to our village and the education groups. Lady Korrigan will lead us as we remember Dinnie. All are welcome to stop by and share a story of this special lady, that we miss.

Every Tuesdays at 5pm SL is Joust practice in the training arena

(We await the ladies’ return to challenge these fine jousters.)

Aoife Lorefield with Stories of the Ancients

7:00 to 8:00 PM SLT
Where: West of Ireland Library and Cultural Center

http://slurl.com/secondlife/West%20of%20Ireland/44/157/29

Join Aoife Lorefield and Derry McMahon for stories of the Ancient Celts, as Aoife opens the new exhibit about Newgrange. It is debated if structures such as Newgrange were built primarily as burial tombs, sacred temples or astronomical observatories. While passage tomb is the traditional description for Newgrange and similar structures, chambered cairn or passage mound are the descriptions favoured by those who consider the passage tomb description too narrow. Newgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun. Stories in voice.
