In Second Life, teens inhabit a different world, so there aren't any services for youth on Info Island. 13-17 year olds are on what is called the Teen Grid (or in other words, a completely separate server from adults)
There is a storefront in Cybrary City, 22, 201, 24 with information for adults on what is happening on the Teen Grid for library services on the Island called Eye4You Alliance.
Currently, there are adults and teens on the Island, working to terraform the land and build several buildings for core services including a theatre, meeting space, and welcome center.
Meetings are held on the Teen Grid as well as on InfoIsland during (or an hour before) the monthly staff meetings. For more information, contact, eye4youalliance@gmail.com or check out our blog at: eye4youalliance.youthtech.info
This week's meeting with developer discussed how we are to proceed with build, using model, prim limits and parceling island.
We had a three hour meeting yesterday with teens and adults. We discussed the future of the Island (the developer is coming at the end of the week), events (open mic poetry in April and promoting author Marc Aronson's book on Bobby Kennedy), and voting for a theme of the Island were some of the highlights. The full transcript is attached. Next general meeting will be April 1, 10amsl on the TG.
Summary:
Open mic night to celebrate National Poetry Month, April
Date: Friday, April 13, 2psl
Organized by Elaine Tulip, Department of Libraries and Information Services, Chicago Public Schools
Place: Eye4You Alliance Island performance stage
Promotion: ask Lindens to announce in log in message, word of mouth, signs on the Island (teens can’t post to events board anymore)
How event will work: Use speakeasy HUD, need emcee, gestures (snapping), possibly music, Saryn can pre-record teen performance poets at her library to be streamed in during event
